1. AWS Marketplace
From the AWS Marketplace site, click the “Continue to Subscribe” yellow button.
2. Manual Launch
In the “Launch on EC2:” page, Click the “Manual Launch” option, and click the “Accept Software Terms”.
3. Launch Page
In the resulting page, click the “Return to Launch Page” button.
4. Launch with EC2 Console
In the resulting launch options page, under the “Launch” section, click on the first “Launch with EC2 Console” button next to the “US East (N.Virginia)” entry.
5. Choose Instance Type
In your EC2 console Step 2: Choose an Instance Type page, check “m4.xlarge” instance type and click the “Review and Launch” button;
6. Edit Security Groups
In the Step 7: Review Instance Launch page, click the “Edit security groups” option;
7. My IP
In the resulting page, the choose “My IP” for the “Source” and then click the “Review and Launch” button.
8. Launch
In the resulting page, click the “Launch” button.
9. Create a new key pair
In the “Select an existing key pair or create a new key pair” window, choose the “create a new key pair” option, enter a name for the key pair and click the “Download Key Pair” button.
10. Launch Instance
After you downloaded the key pair, click the “Launch Instances” button. In the resulting page, you can scroll down to the right hand corner and click “View Instances” button to view your running instances.
11. Your Instance IP
Scroll through the sides and find out the IP address of your instance, as shown in the below screenshot example - 34.201.8.1
12. Download X2GO
Download and install X2GO in your local machine, from the below site; https://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php
13. Session Preferences
Start X2Go client, click “Session” menu button and then “New Session” option. In the Session preferences window, set the “Host”, “Login”, “Use RSA/DSA key for ssh connection” and Session type as shown below (with Host as your instance IP address, Login as “ubuntu”, path to the key file that you downloaded earlier and session type and Mate). Click “OK” to save the preferences.
14. Click to connect
Click on any white space in the white box that has the session information;
15. Host key verification
When prompted, click “Yes” for the Do you trust the host key ? question. If your session does not start after click the “Yes” option, click your session setting white box one more time like you did #14.
16. Your MolBioCloud desktop
In a few seconds you will have your MolBioCloud desktop nice and ready for you to start the work. Feel free to browse through the menu to explore different tools available. Several of the tools are available through the command line also.
17. Stopping your instance
Once your work is done, you could simply exit the session window and either stop or terminate your new instance, through your EC2 console instance window;
